At some point or another, we all face some sort of crisis. If yours is threatening your housing security or leaving you at risk of homelessness, Independent Living Services (ILS) can help you find safe, clean, and affordable medium- to long-term supported housing in which to weather the storm.
ILS offers high-quality supported housing with private bedrooms for all our residents at our eight locations in Weston-super-Mare. We support individuals from an exceptionally wide range of backgrounds, all of whom benefit from our structured environment, programmes of support, and our incredible community actively working towards a better future.
In our time of offering a hand to those who ‘need it now!’, we’ve seen many times how unexpected events, trauma, and crises can leave people vulnerable to homelessness. The sudden passing of a loved one and its associated trauma; unexpected loss of employment or additional financial burdens; and the slow grind of raising costs finally reaching a breaking point are only a handful of thousands of events or factors that could lead to a life crisis.
ILS helps people face and recover from these and other crises, safe in the knowledge that they have stable accommodation and access to a caring community and personalised support programmes. We provide:
If you are facing a crisis that might affect your housing security or long-term mental health, please do not hesitate to reach out to ILS. We don’t judge the reasons behind your housing crisis; we simply offer safety, stability, and structure in an uncertain time.
We believe in everyone’s right to safe and accessible housing. Whether you are paying privately or through government-assisted benefits, ILS can provide you with secure and comfortable housing within a supportive community.
ILS operates eight supported houses throughout Weston. We are within an hour’s drive from Bristol, Cardiff, Bath, and Newport, and easily accessible by rail from anywhere in the south. Our houses each accommodate up to five residents in private bedrooms. Some bedrooms have private en-suite bathrooms. Our homes all feature clean, well-kept shared spaces and communal areas.
We have easy access to major public transport hubs, education centres, shopping and recreational areas, and medical service providers, making it possible to get around without a private vehicle. Our houses were also carefully selected to be near the beach, parks, and other outdoor spaces.
Every crisis is not equally severe, and everyone doesn’t react the same way to a crisis. For many, they come and go. Unfortunately, for many others, certain life events prove too much to bear, often leading to situations marked by desperation, anxiety, depression, and hopelessness. In these dark times, it’s easier to fall victim to drug and alcohol abuse, prolonged homelessness, and a long-term downward spiral of negative thoughts and self-harming behaviour.
ILS can’t prevent the crisis or the trauma, but we can provide stability and support within a structured environment. We help people deal with their crises while sidestepping the risk of homelessness and substance abuse. ILS provides a number of support programmes designed to help people overcome a crisis and return to fully independent living when they are ready.
We work with several local and national organisations to help keep our services accessible and affordable, providing access to safe supported housing to privately paying individuals as well as those on government benefits.
Please contact ILS for exact details about our pricing.
We understand the need to move fast during a crisis and will forward all the documentation requirements immediately after making first contact. Once we receive your paperwork, the ILS team will conduct a brief interview to identify the best housing option for your needs. From there, you’re ready to move in and join the ILS community.
